Celebrating an anniversary

KNOWN as one of the leading venues for family celebrations and special occasions, Kettering Park Hotel & Spa is itself celebrating an important anniversary this year.

On February 2 it was 25 years since the hotel opened on what was, at the time, a greenfield site just off the A14. The vision of John Yerburgh, the company chairman at the time, proved correct as Kettering Venture Park began to grow in the space around the hotel.

With its excellent links to the rest of the country via both road and rail, the hotel thrived and today it welcomes leisure and business guests keen to take advantage of the facilities on offer.

Among the leisure users, the bar and restaurant are popular, while the spa members benefit from a gym, beauty treatment rooms, swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room and a comfortable members lounge. Hotel guests can use the spa facilities during their stay.

For business visitors, the hotel represents an easily accessed meeting point in the centre of the country for bringing people together, whether firms are bringing employees in from nationwide locations, accommodating visitors to the area, or looking to entertain clients in a central location.

Andrew Hollett, General Manager of Kettering Park Hotel & Spa, said: “We celebrated the anniversary in February with a staff gathering with a quiz and a beautiful cake kindly donated to us by Hockleys.

“We decided against repeating the original opening ceremony which include a hot-air balloon tied to a car – health and safety has moved on a little since 1993.

“It’s testament to the hotel’s facilities that we still have 40 members of the spa that were with us on the first day of opening. As part of the anniversary celebrations most of the founder members joined us for a drinks reception, followed by dinner and then a jazz evening.”

For more information or to book, contact Kettering Park Hotel & Spa on 01536 416666 or visit www.ketteringparkhotel.co.uk The hotel’s jazz evenings are now a regular feature, with appearances by top artists such as Pete Allen and Enrico Tomasso. The next event will be held on Friday 23 March, tickets are £35 and include a two-course meal and entertainment. Booking is required and to do so, call the events team on the number above.
