Opening up all kinds of opportunities

WITH a large investment made in 2017 with the purchase of a flatbed combined cutter and router table, the benefits of having the in-house capability to CAD-cut graphics to shape has had a massive impact on productivity and service levels this year.

With trends in signage and large-format graphics ever changing it is vitally important to stay at the forefront of creative design when it comes to making your brand stand out in the crowded marketplace.

Large-format print is a highly competitive field and an extremely pressured environment to occupy, particularly when it comes to deadlines. The turnaround times for campaign launches have become shorter over the last few years, you simply don’t get two weeks to turn things around any more, in some cases it’s more like two days. So having the in-house capability to not only cut graphics to shape but in some cases to simply straight cut a large quantity of graphics quickly, accurately and, most importantly, neatly, is a real plus point for Pumpkin and our customers.

The table can cut or rout any number of different rigid substrates and rolled materials. Most common of all would be foam PVC or Foamex as the material is more commonly known. It’s used for all manner of different applications. Although predominantly for internal use, it can also be used for short-term external signage and graphics where budgets dictate. The equipment can also deal with the more hardcore materials such as acrylic, aluminium composite and wood where required.

There’s been a real shift of late towards a more traditional look and feel, with timber as a substrate and background. The high street chains are awash with sign written timber graphics which has, over this last year, filtered down through to the smaller retail chains and independents wanting to get on board with the trend.

So having the ability to work with an ever-expanding variety of materials and processes allows Pumpkin to stay ahead and keep things fresh both internally and for their customers.
